The answer is a resounding “Yes!”. I have been delivering chiropractic adjustments for decades, and have never injured anyone, nor had a bad experience.

Most people find getting adjusted a pleasant experience. If you are very sore when you first begin treatment, you may find adjustments to that area to be a little uncomfortable for the split second it takes to mobilize the area. If someone is really sore, we generally start with some stretching, gentle mobilization, and some type of adjunctive therapy until things have settled down. I always tell my patients before beginning treatment that “Nothing I'm going to do should ever hurt you, so if I'm doing something that doesn't feel good, please don't be bashful about telling me, and I'll find a different way to do it.”

For the vast majority of people at our office, the answer is “Yes.” Because of poor reimbursement by the insurance companies, many chiropractors have chosen not to participate with insurance plans, or participate with only a few. Many have gone to cash only. We, on the other hand, participate with just about every insurance plan out there, including Medicare and Medicaid. One notable exception is insurance for those in the military, which simply does not cover chiropractic care outside of a number of military bases. Our national chiropractic organizations are working hard to correct this gross injustice. In the meantime, we offer our services at a reduced price to those in the military and their families. I feel it is the least we can do to say “Thank you.”

At our office, the answer to that question is always up to you. Besides being very effective at helping people with acute problems, there is a tremendous benefit to receiving periodic adjustments to optimize and maintain the mechanical and neurological function of your body. We do our best to educate our patients, then let them decide how they want to proceed. Just as you get periodic checkups at your dentist's office, it makes good sense to be proactive about your spinal and neurological health as well.
